In the red corner, Apple…in the blue corner, Samsung, either you are tired or not of their eternal fight, things aren't clear between those brands. If in UK, judges were positive about one fact, that Samsung gadgets are uglier than the supposedly copied prototype, back in US the war has received new reinforcements. Apple is so self-confident in its sense of justice, that ended by claiming Samsung $2.5 billion damages over patents for technology used in smartphones and tablets.

Apple accused several times Samsung of infringing its patents by making its popular Galaxy phone and tablets behave as Apple products (Apple's word was copied in fact), which was thought to be an unfair marketing strategy on world's gadgets market. Apple asks so much money as damage, believing that its rival was unjustly enriched on Tim Cook's company back, it's all about $2 billion, presumably obtained in this way, by depriving Apple of $500 million of profit of sales, plus 25 million of royalty damages (a patent for scrolling technology, a patent for tap to zoom feature and a patent that tells users with a bounce when they reached the bottom of screens). On the other hand, Samsung has counterattacked that it simply developed its own unique model and besides the competition on this area is democratic, where consumer can choose what he/she likes, so Apple shouldn't feel that hurt over patented technology. Ironically or not, Samsung seriously thinks of making Apple pay for using its own patented Samsung technology, but I can't tell you for sure which is this technology that Samsung refers to, all I know is that it has to do with mobile telecommunications.

Apple might be right this time, but its future plan to obtain a permanent injunction for potential violations seems to betray the company's fear in front of Samsung and each brand, tempting to reshape some essential features includes in iPhone or iPad. Last week, Tim Cook and top Samsung executives participated in a court-supervised mediation to try to resolve the case, but a resolution appeared to be unlikely, none of the parts could agree on the value of the disputed patents.

I remind you that Apple previously earned a big victory in Germany, when a federal judge ordered a sales ban for Samsung's Galaxy Tab 7.7 tablet throughout the European Union. Soon enough, another European judge decided that Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1N doesn't infringe on Apple patents and can continue to be sold anywhere in the EU. Similar legal fights between the two stubborn companies are also going on in South Korea or Japan.

Probably, in the end, Apple's war isn't focused on Samsung, but on Android gadgets, more numerous each day passes by, seriously threatening its monopoly.
